Hello world and blinking leds with basic stamp

basicblinkingledsWhile visiting Orlando, FL I bought a Parallax Inc What’s a Microcontroller Basic Stamp Kit from the Radio Shack. As I was stuck in Orlando for an extra week due to an erupting volcano in Iceland I had some time to play with the board already in the hotel in the evenings. The kit includes a book and a test board with a processor and the needed software on CD for programming it with a PC via RS-232. USB versions are also available. The book itself is quite simple with blinking leds, pushbutton input, controlling a servo etc. projects that you can build with the components included in the kit. It took less than 30 minutes to read the book. I think it is directed for kids, but, the test board and PC SW is neat for developing own projects.
